Prof. Ilan Troen, Prof. Uri Bialer, Prof. Khalil Shikaki

Live seminar from the Brandeis University (Massachussets):
17.11.2011, 19h00-20h00, FSPUB, Str.Sf.Stefan 24, sala 1 (TBC)
Thursday, November 17th at 12:00 pm (EST) The date of Kaf-Tet B’November (November 29, 1947) is significant as a marker in Israeli history as the date on which the United Nations General Assembly voted on partition of the land of Mandatory Palestine.  On this date, the UN recognized the creation of independent Jewish and Arab States. This web seminar program will provide a multi-faceted perspective ranging from the historical context (perspectives on why partition was adopted and how viewed at present); How partition from 1947 relates to foreign policy issues; and the Palestinian perspective on the UN partition plan with attention to why the Arab position was one of rejection in 1947/8 and has changed to qualified endorsement today. Questions will be taken and answered live during the Q&A session. Contact: Dr. Madalina VARTEJEANU-JOUBERT.
